Get ready to dust off your best black attire and eye makeup because My Chemical Romance is coming to Australia.

The emo punk rock band will be hitting the Land Down Under next year for Download Music Festival.

It's the first time MCR has come to Australia since 2012, so no doubt there will be plenty of fans who will be begging to see them.

They'll sing alongside the likes of Alestorm, Baroness, Bodyjar, Disentomb, Dregg, Hands Like Houses, Jimmy Eat World, Plini, Redhook, Skynd, Stand Atlantic, Venom Prison and many more.

Sadly, Download festival has confirmed that this will be the only shows that My Chemical Romance will be doing in Australia.

So if you want to see them, then you'll have to get tickets before the festival hits Melbourne and Sydney in March.

The band recently announced a massive reunion gig in the US, which sparked much speculation they were making new music after a seven year hiatus.

Not only that, but the band have modernised and launched their first ever Instagram page.

Before they split the band released four albums together, with the 15th anniversary of their debut causing fans to start to question the likelihood of more material or live shows.

Since they split, the band members have each individually worked on their own projects - with Gerard Way working on his Umbrella Academy Netflix shows, based on the comics of the same name.

It's not the first time Gerard's been in the news today either. As luck would have it, or not, the news that he has a very famous and still relevant relative emerged.

During a recent interview on his podcast, Joe Rogan revealed that he was related to Way.

The comedian made the shock revelation to director and writer Kevin Smith - who worked with Way on the hit Netflix series The Umbrella Academy - who took the opportunity to ask Rogan about the familial ties.
