One of Britain's most-loved bands Oasis have released a new song... sort of.

Before you go getting too excited - no they haven't secretly reformed in lockdown and rapidly recorded a new track.

Brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher remain very much estranged, but we're able to enjoy a previously unreleased Oasis tune after the former unearthed it while rummaging through boxes of unmarked CDs; so still very much exciting news.

The band's primary songwriter - who has been performing as solo act Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds since 2009 - said in a post on Twitter yesterday (29 April) that he found the 'old demo' that he thought he'd 'lost forever' while killing time in quarantine.

Noel thought the track had been 'lost forever'.

The track is called 'Don't Stop...' and the 52-year-old said he decided to share it with the world for people to 'enjoy/argue over' it.

He said: "Hey there dudes and dollies. Like the rest of the world, I've had infinite time to kill lately so I thought I'd finally look and find out what was actually on the HUNDREDS of faceless unmarked CD's I've got lying around in boxes at home.

"As fate would have it, I have stumbled across an old demo which I thought had been lost forever.

"As far as I'm aware there is only one version of this tune 'out there' from an Oasis soundcheck in Hong Kong about 15 years ago? I'm not sure whether the soundcheck version predates the demo as there's no date on the CD.

"I know some of you love this tune so we thought we'd put it out there for you to enjoy/argue over. It'll be up on the internet from midnight. The song is called 'Don't Stop...'

"Hope everyone is staying safe and trying to ride out the lockdown with the minimum of fuss. You're welcome by the way."

Last month, younger brother Liam - who also now performs as a solo artist - urged his brother to get on board with a reunion gig, with all profits going towards the NHS.

Unfortunately though, Noel has not responded to the plea, but Liam has since announced a solo gig for NHS workers in October.

Who knows, maybe one day we'll get the reunion we all want, as long as we *don't stop believing.

*That was meant to be a reference to the new song by the way, not that Journey song. Obviously.
