People Weren't Impressed By Justin Timberlake's Super Bowl Outfit

People Weren't Impressed By Justin Timberlake's Super Bowl Outfit

The 'Rock Your Body' singer's woods/camo-themed outfit quickly turned into a meme that did the rounds on Twitter.

Justin Timberlake's Super Bowl halftime performance definitely got people talking - although, unfortunately for him, it was as much about the outfit he was wearing as it was his actual show.

Returning to the scene of the 'Nipplegate' controversy he sparked with Janet Jackson over a decade ago, the Rock Your Body stunned viewers with his rather, um, interesting Stella McCartney-designed get-up.

Timberlake came to the stage dressed in camo trousers and a weird deer/desert print crossover shirt as he begins promoting his newest album Man in the Woods, which has been described as 'like Wild West, but now'. Gotcha.

To make the outfit an even more egregious assault on good taste, Timberlake combined the outfit with a red and white bandana around his neck. See, this is what happens when creative genius goes unchallenged.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter had a lot of fun with the outfit, with one person even calling for Stella to give up the day job.

"Stella McCartney should throw in the towel on her design career after that Justin Timberlake Deer on my Shirt/Red Bandana horror show of an outfit," the tweeter said. Ouch.

Other people compared him to a range of other unflattering things like a wildlife safari van, the desktop of Mac OS Sierra, and their grandpop:

At least some viewers were paying attention to the music, though, as Justin started with new song Filthy before busting out a medley of his most memorable hits including Rock Your Body, SexyBack, Cry Me A River

Timberlake even attempted a tribute to the Twin Cities' favourite son Prince, performing a cover of classic Prince hit I Would Die 4 U with a projection of the Minneapolis legend.

Twitter users were similarly mixed about Timberlake's performance, with one person calling him a 'one of a kind talent' and another dubbing it 'the concert equivalent of one slice of wonder white bread'. Others moaned about not being able to hear the concert properly.

At the very least Justin's Super Bowl stint was memorable - that's more than you can say for half-time at the FA Cup Final.
