Rapper Blueface Criticised After Throwing Bundles Of Cash At People In Los Angeles

Rapper Blueface Criticised After Throwing Bundles Of Cash At People In Los Angeles

A rapper has been criticised after posting a video of himself throwing money at passers-by in Los Angeles.

Blueface - real name Johnathan Michael Porter - shared a clip of him stood on top of a car, chucking cash at people stood on a road in Skid Row - a notoriously poverty-stricken area of the city.

The video was posted to the artist's Twitter account yesterday (Monday), with the caption: "The season of giving."

In the short vid, people can be seen standing around the car, waiting for Blueface to throw the money out of bags. As the bills land, they then clamber around the floor, trying to pick them up as quickly as possible, before stuffing it in their pockets.

However, his seemingly altruistic actions have received a backlash, with people claiming the singer was 'degrading' those he was claiming to help.

One person said: "Throwing bills in the air, watching the needy scramble on the ground for them. #degrading."

A second wrote: "Way to demean them. You could have handed it out in a decent way that wasn't so dehumanizing. Someone could have been seriously injured because of your stunt."

"This is a disgusting way to flex on people that don't have money. Why not just pass them the money like human beings instead of throwing it everywhere and making them fight and pick it up off the ground. Class warfare is real... these people are human being not animals," commented a third.

A fourth hit out, writing: "This is one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen in my life. Blueface and everyone who supports him should be ashamed."

While another added: "Handing them the money wasn't an option? Instead you literally stand on top of them and throw it at them and make them scavenge for it....bro your buggin."

Not everyone believed he had done anything wrong, however. Some users backed his corner, claiming he was just trying to help.

DJ Akademiks took to Twitter to praise the rapper, who he said had 'humbly' donated $50,000.

He wrote: "They say a lot about BlueFACE but they never mention that he one of the most generous rappers in the game. Here he is humbly donating $50,000 to the less fortunate! THANK U BLUEFACE."
