Stormzy Posts Phone Number Online And Has A Message For Everyone

Shut up...

This was the week your mum heard about Stormzy. The biggest moment at the BRITs was his duet with Ed Sheeran of 'Shape of You'.

He may have been a huge influence on the underground scene since he independently released his debut album Dreamers Disease, in 2014, but the south London grime artist is officially mainstream.

And with mainstream success comes thousands and thousands of fans, so it's not a surprise that when Stormzy posted a mysterious mobile phone number to Twitter with no explanation, people began ringing it.

He followed it up by asking fans to text him their name and location, fuelling rumours he might have some treats - or a personal visit - for some lucky fans.

But what happened when you rang through?

When TheLADbible picked up the phone, we found that Stormzy had recorded a personal voicemail message thanking his fans for their support of his new album Gang Signs & Prayer.

"Yo, what's going on, you're through to Stormzy," he said.

"I just want to say massive love. Thank you for supporting the album, Gang Signs & Prayer, out now. I hope you're enjoying it. I just want to say thank you for all your support, it's been incredible. I love you all, thank you."

This is just one of the ways the artist has been plugging his album since its release; on Sunday he made a TV appearance that would have been impossible to image two years ago.

Stormzy Appears On Sunday Brunch

In possibly the weirdest TV show appearance ever, Stormzy took to Channel 4's Sunday Brunch.

He joined presenters Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer for an interview before helping them with some cooking. Have a gander here then lads...

Regarding the BRITs performance, he said: "It was one of the scariest things I've ever done in my life.

"I don't even remember the performance, I just remember walking on stage and doing it.

"You can kind of tell looking back at the clip - when I walk on stage there's a moment, like a split second, where I notice and I'm like 'Oh the crowd are kind of liking this'.

"Then I get excited and I'm like: 'I'm going for it now'. At first I was scared but then we just smashed it."

He continued: "Everyone, my peers, supporters, everyone's quite proud and happy about it; me and Ed make two different styles of music but coming together is a good thing.

"And it's a snowball effect - they check me out, check another MC out, and see what we're all about."

Apparently he had to keep the collaboration secret for over a month and didn't even tell his family because he was scared it would get out.

He and Ed are clearly now pals Stormzy uploaded this picture of the pair wearing T-shirts with each other's faces on to Instagram:

Back to the brunch: his fans couldn't believe that he was on the show, and took to Twitter in their droves to express their shock:

Brilliant.
