Tenacious D Have Recorded A Single With Jack White
Earlier this month, rock fans the world over were sent into overdrive when Jack Black confirmed that Tenacious D had recorded a tune with Jack White.
But new footage has now been released showing White meeting up with Black and bandmate Kyle Gass to get in the studio and lay down the track.
In a video title 'Jack Gray' - get it? - posted to the band's YouTube account, Black heads over to White's Third Man Records headquarters to hang out.
And during the video, Black then lets it slip that the three of them were about to record a tune that Tenacious D had been working on for some time.
Talking about the exciting news, the School of Rock star says: "We're heading over to Jack White's house to record a single. Me and Gass have been working on a jam-it's not quite done, but I think that's where Jack White comes in and helps us pull it over the finish line. This is a legendary collaboration."
Sadly, they weren't going to give everything away, and no footage was released from the recording, so we will just have to wait a little while longer to find out what they've cooked up. No doubt it will be bloody epic.
Rumours over a potential collaboration began circulating earlier this year when the three lads met at one of Tenacious D's concerts in London.
The band posted a photograph of the trio, with White holding up a Tenacious D t-shit. The caption read: "We hired a new merch guy."
The snap sent fans crazy, with plenty of requests for them to record something together.
And during a gig in Nashville earlier this month, Black revealed that their prayers had been answered and they had been in the studio with White.
According to reports in the Tennessean, Black told the crowd: "Jack White, we went over to his house today and recorded a brand new song."
It's hard to know how Black has found to time to get all this done, he's got a lot going on. In December he launched his own gaming channel, Jablinski Games, on YouTube in December and already it has amassed more than four million subscribers.
Unlike most gaming channels, it contains very little gaming content, but hey, the guy has got many strings to his bow.
And last September he was also honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, giving an acceptance speech during which he semi-threatened to retire and called Donald Trump a piece of s***.
A release date for the lads' new tune has not yet been confirmed, so stay tuned for more news.
