Tina Turner has stepped out of retirement to work with Kygo for a remix of her 1984 track 'What's Love Got to Do with It?'

Announcing the news on Twitter, Norwegian producer Kygo - real name Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll - shared a photo of the pair stood side by side, revealing the track will be out on Friday.

He wrote: "Can't believe I'm releasing a collab with @LoveTinaTurner this Friday!

"'What's Love Got to Do with It?' is one of my all time favorite songs, and it feels surreal to get the opportunity to work with such a legendary artist."

Turner, 80, has previously said she's happily retired and has no plans to get back to singing and performing.

Speaking to the New York Times last year, Turner, who lives in Switzerland, said: "I don't sing. I don't dance. I don't dress up."

Now it seems Kygo has managed to tempt the legendary singer out of retirement.

On social media fans are getting pretty excited about the upcoming track, with one person writing: "Kygo is really out here collecting collaborations with legends! First the 'Higher Love' record with our angel Whitney Houston and now Tina Turner! Gon' head Kygo!"

Another commented: "Kygo/Tina Turner - 'What's Love Got to Do with It' is coming on Friday. His remake of 'Higher Love' is amazing and I still listen to it almost daily. I'm so excited for another one."

While a third said: "I am soooo excited for Friday. With everything happening in the world today, perfect timing for some joy!"

Last year, Kygo's remix of Whitney Houston's cover 'Higher Love' gave the late singer a posthumous hit - meaning she's had Billboard Hot 100 hits in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010s.

Speaking to Billboard about 'Higher Love', Kygo said: "Obviously this was super special and it was kind of unreal for me to get that opportunity and work on one of her vocals.

"I was super happy with the results and obviously a little nervous to put it out as I didn't know if people were going to like it. But now seeing the reception, it feels amazing."
