You'll struggle to find bands who divide opinion to quite the same extent as Coldplay and Radiohead. Both are hugely successful, capable of selling out arenas to their evangelically devoted fanbases, and yet both attract more than their fair share of venom from nay-sayers.
Coldplay, fronted by perennial nice guy Chris Martin, receive frequent snipes for their perceived 'blandness', while Thom Yorke and Radiohead have been regularly parodied for their morose melodies and supposedly-impenetrable sound. I suppose neither band really cranks out Saturday night dancefloor fillers - certainly, I've never wasted a sesh pestering a DJ to play 'The Scientist' or 'Karma Police' so I can pull some shapes. Honest.
But a Fox News presenter today managed the extraordinary feat of misunderstanding both bands, when he described Radiohead as a 'poor man's Coldplay'. Watch the clip below:

Speaking on FOX News with Kat Timpf - who previously made headlines when she insulted the band behind 'Creep' earlier this month - host Greg Gutfeld said: "You know, Radiohead is a fine band but they stole everything from Coldplay... Like, Radiohead is the poor man's Coldplay."

Now, I'm no historian or anything, and definitely not trying to claim one band is better than the other, primarily because I don't really care. But didn't Radiohead... well, kind of predate Coldplay by a good few years? The former band delivered their landmark third album OK Computer back in 1997, three years before the latter rolled around with their first hit 'Yellow'.
In fact, Coldplay's Chris Martin has been pretty vocal about his love of Radiohead in the past. Rolling Stone as much in 2008: "Sometimes I feel like they cleared a path with a machete, and we came afterward and put up a strip mall," he told Rolling Stone in 2008. "I would still give my left ball to write anything as good as OK Computer."

Timpf herself had previously labelled Radiohead's music as 'just elaborate moaning and whining over ringtone sounds', which in fairness isn't a million miles from the mark - although it'd be a fair cop for fans to point out that it's pretty artful moaning and whining.
Oh well.
In other Radiohead news, the band are among the acts that could be initiated in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 2018.
Among others on the long-list are Kate Bush, Rage Against The Machine, Depeche Mode, Bon Jovi, Judas Priest, the Cars, Dire Straits, Eurythmics, J. Geils Band, LL Cool J, The MC5, The Meters, The Moody Blues, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Nina Simone, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Link Wray and The Zombies.
