TikTok superstar Charli D'Amelio has denied accusations she has bought her followers on the platform.
A few weeks back, she became the first creator on the social video platform to pass 100 million followers, and that milestone has brought with it speculation that the number is in some way not legit.
However, the 16-year-old influencer has now denied that on the latest episode of the podcast that she presents alongside her sister Dixie, entitled Charli and Dixie: 2 Chix.
Speaking on that show, she said: "Have I ever bought followers for myself or anyone? No, I have not."
The professional dancer and internet sensation had been asked whether she, or her sister or their famous mates, had ever bought any followers. She also put the theory Dixie had ever bought followers to rest by adding: "Has my family? No, they have not. Has anyone that I know? No, they have not."
You can see where this is going - they've not bought any followers, folks.

She continued: "Are there bots on the app called TikTok? Indeed. Everyone has bots. That's how the app is run. That's how the app works.
"That's how they make the app look the way it is.
"Can I control that? Absolutely not. I have no power. I do not work at TikTok.
"My father does not work at TikTok either. I know a lot of people think that. He does not. Moral of the story. I do not buy followers."
Righto, got that.
Upon hitting the huge milestone, D'Amelio - who is from Norwalk in Connecticut - exclaimed: "A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS HELPED ME REACH 100 MILLION SUPPORTERS!!! AND ANOTHER HUGE THANK YOU TO @tiktok I LOVE EVERY ONE OF YOU!!!"
She then released a video thanking her millions of followers for their continued support.

In that, she added: "Thank you guys so, so, so much,
"I can't believe there's 100 million supporters following me right now. That is insane, oh my goodness.
"Y'all can't grasp that this is real, I still feel like it's a dream, kind of waiting to wake up. Very insane. Oh my goodness, thank you!"
To put into perspective how incredible this achievement is, D'Amelio has more followers than Rihanna (87 million) and model Gigi Hadid (61 million) do over on Instagram.
According to Forbes, D'Amelio has made more than $4 million (£3m) from 30 June 2019 to 30 June 2020, placing her as the second-highest TikTok earner behind dancer Addison Rae - who, the outlet estimates, has earned $5 million.
