Joe Rogan And Former My Chemical Romance Singer Gerard Way Are Related
Plenty of us have family we've never met - cousins, uncles or aunts we don't know personally but have heard about. Generally there's nothing remarkable about them, they're just people who share some DNA with us.
Well, during a recent interview on his podcast, Joe Rogan revealed that he was related to writer and former My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way.
I s*** you not.
The comedian made the shock revelation to director and writer Kevin Smith - who worked with Way on the hit Netflix series The Umbrella Academy - who took the opportunity to ask Rogan about the familial ties.
Smith says: "I've gotta ask a question on behalf of somebody else. Your grandmother? Named Josie?"
He then continued: "Gerard Way? Lead singer of My Chemical Romance?"
Seeing where the question was going, Rogan replied: "Yeah, we're related."
A stunned Smith then added: "How crazy that two people in the same family became super f***ing famous?"

But it wasn't just Smith who was left open-mouthed by the news. Fans around the world were shocked too - and not all of them were best pleased. At all.
Taking to Twitter, one user wrote: "It is with immense displeasure and apologies to every Gerard Way loving emo girl on my TL tonight that I must report: Joe Rogan is Gerard Way's cousin."
Another said: "The most cursed knowledge I was bestowed with today is that Joe Rogan and Gerard Way are first cousins."
"Gerard Way and Joe Rogan are cousins in case your day hasn't been f***ed up yet," wrote a third.
Guessing the Venn diagram of My Chemical Romance and Joe Rogan fans doesn't intersect too closely.
But not everyone was so distressed by the news - some thought it was hilarious.
One person even thought it could make the premise for a new sitcom, writing: "Can't stop picturing Gerard Way and Joe Rogan starring in some family comedy where Joe's the high school's star football player and Gerard Way's the bullied emo kid, they find out they're related, Joe sticks up for Gerard, they thwart the principal's evil plan & become best friends."
According to reports, Smith is currently working with Way on Clerks 3, the latest addition to his long-running 'View Askew' universe which also features his cult comedy duo Jay and Silent Bob.
Way is set to score the movie, having previously worked with Smith on a number of projects, including a track for 2014 horror movie Tusk. Most recently, he recorded music for the soundtrack of Netflix series The Umbrella Academy, which was based on comics written and created by the 'Welcome to the Black Parade' singer.
Smith's latest film Jay and Silent Bob Reboot was released in US cinemas earlier this month and is set to open for UK audiences on 29 November.
