Noel Edmonds is on his way to join the rest of the campmates in this year's I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here'.

What, so you already knew the former Crinkley Bottom resident was heading to the other side of the world to star in the hit reality show? Of course you did, we all did, but now it's been officially confirmed.

The 69-year-old won't be chowing down on any kangaroo's anus on the cheap though. Reportedly being paid £600,000, Edmonds will become the highest paid contestant ever to appear in the jungle.

But speaking to the Mirror Online he said it's not just about the money, and is even willing to make his own deal with the public in order to win - promising to retire from television for good.

He said: "That's a deal I'm prepared to do with the British public.

"If they do vote me king of the jungle I will never appear on television again.

"Fifty years is long enough - give us a break, for Christ's sake, we've got enough problems with Brexit.

"Now I'd be very happy to do that deal but it's on terms I win the bloody thing.

"I've had a fantastic relationship with the British public. I may be Marmite but there's a hell of a lot of people that seem to like Noel's version of Marmite."

But if that plan falls through, the controversial television veteran has said he can always fall back on cosmic ordering - which he credits with landing him the Deal or No Deal job - to help him cope with life in the jungle.

He said: "I do a form of meditation every day anyway. People don't get all this cosmic ordering but it is only prayer.

"It was very funny when someone said to me, 'You have gone New Age', because it is actually old age.

"People were doing this thousands of years ago and it is very good for you to have a moment of peace in a busy day."

He continued: "Whether you call it meditation, self-reflection or just shutting everything out, I am quite good at that. Mentally, I am quite good at self discipline."

Edmonds will need all the zen he can muster if he's to get through the dreaded bushtucker trials.

Noel said: "I think they'll enter into the spirit of it and I'm sure I'll have a horrendous time. Look at the pedigree.

"Gotchas, gunging people, silly, I deserve it. Bring it on."

Be careful what you wish for, Noel.
