The sixth and final season of Peaky Blinders now has a release date and fans are counting down the days.

The director of the show revealed it will be coming sooner than originally anticipated, much to the delight of fans, who made it the most-watched show on Netflix this year. Here’s everything we know about PB season six.

Peaky Blinders season 6 release date

Peaky Blinders is due out in early 2022, but an exact release date is yet to be announced. The show’s director, Anthony Byrne, posted a teaser clip on Instagram and wrote: "We're coming for you sooner than you think." The end of the teaser simply said, “early 2022” - so let’s hope that’s March at the latest.

Peaky Blinders Season 6 cast and plot: What will happen in season 6?

Season six will of course see the return of Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby and Sam Claflin, who plays facist politician Oswald Mosley. Their relationship will have changed significantly since the explosive season five finale, so it’ll be interesting to see how that develops in the final series.

Alongside Murphy and Claflin, we can expect to see the return of the other OG’s such as Paul Anderson (Arthur Shelby), Harry Kirton (Finn Shelby) and Sophie Rundle (Ada Thorne).

Sadly, Helen McCrory, who’d played Polly Gray in the first five seasons, passed away after a battle with cancer in April 2021. We’re not sure how much filming she did for season six - if any at all - or how her death will be handled in the series.

Murphy said McCrory was his “closest colleague” on set and that he was “in awe” of the actress. He told The Guardian: “She was my closest colleague on Peaky, and one of the finest actors I’ve ever worked opposite. Any material, any scene… she made it special. She could do power and vulnerability, one after the other.”

Season six also welcomes a new character played by Conrad Khan, which is a bit of a mystery at the moment. But Khan told NME that the script for the series is “amazing.” We can’t wait to see for ourselves.
