After Rihanna was named a national hero at Barbados’ first ever presidential inauguration on Monday (29th November), a fresh round of pregnancy rumours began to circulate. So why do fans think the star is expecting?
The rumours appear to have been started by a verified Twitter account called The Academy. On Tuesday (30th November), the account tweeted a photo of Rihanna and her boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, and wrote: “Rihanna is expecting her first child with A$AP Rocky.”

There’s no evidence whatsoever to back up this claim at the moment, but the tweet has been shared more than 17,000 times. Other fans have posted photos of the billionaire at the inauguration ceremony and are convinced she’s showing a baby bump. But again, nothing has been confirmed.
This isn’t the first time pregnancy rumours have been sparked about the Good Girl Gone Bad singer this year. Back in April 2021, fans thought Rihanna was wearing a loose fitting outfit at the Met Gala to conceal a baby bump.
While Rihanna and A$AP Rocky only made their relationship red carpet official in September 2021, rumours that they were dating began to swirl in 2018.
According to The Sun, fans started speculating about a romance when the two were seen sitting close together at the Louis Vuitton show for Paris Fashion Week in 2018.
In 2019, Rihanna shared a photo of her and A$AP Rocky at the British Fashion Awards and said: "And thank you @asaprocky for representing us on the carpet and always being so supportive of @Fenty."
Then at the start of 2020, Riri and Rocky were seen at a concert together in New York. At this point, a source told US Weekly that the two were “hanging out and hooking up.”
In July 2020, the pair did a photoshoot together for Rihanna’s Fenty line and in an interview for Vogue shortly after, A$AP Rocky told Rihanna, “I appreciate you, like for real, for real.”
Again in 2020, the two were photographed kissing on a boat on vacation in Barbados, which unofficially confirmed their relationship.
Then in a 2021 interview with GQ, A$AP Rocky referred to Rihanna as “my lady” and “the love of my life.”
That brings us to September 2021, where the two music icons made their red carpet debut as a couple.
