Ryan Reynolds Constantly Mistaken For Another Actor At Local Restaurant But He Never Corrects Staff

Ryan Reynolds Constantly Mistaken For Another Actor At Local Restaurant But He Never Corrects Staff

The Deadpool star says he doesn't think it would go down well at this stage

Ryan Reynolds is one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, so you'd think most people would recognise him if they bumped into him. Wouldn't they?

Well, you'd think so, but apparently not.

The actor recently revealed that staff at one of his favourite restaurants don't even know who he is.

Speaking on the Dear Hank and John podcast, the 45-year-old said they think he's another Hollywood star.

Reynolds explained: "There's a pizza place in the East Village in New York that I've been going to for years.

"They believe I'm Ben Affleck and I've never corrected them. I feel it would not go over well if I revealed."

He added: "I do everything normal like everybody else. They just think I'm Ben Affleck and they'll ask how J.Lo is and I'm, like, 'Great, good'. I get the pizza and off I go."

But it's not just Affleck that the Deadpool star is often mixed up with. He went on to say that people often confuse him with Ryan Gosling.

He said: "Years ago, I used to play fast and a little loose more on Twitter. These days, I'm a little bit more reserved."

Reynolds then repeated a joke he once made about how you can tell him and Gosling apart.

"I said, 'Well the difference is easy to spot. Ryan Gosling has blond hair and Ryan Reynolds is a [expletive]'," he said.

Earlier this month, Reynolds revealed that he was taking a break from acting.

In an interview with LinkedIn, Reynolds was quizzed on his decision, to which he replied: "The biggest thing for me... is that I don’t want to miss this time with my kids."

He went on: "When I’m shooting a film, I’m oftentimes in Europe, I’m away, there are incredibly long hours, it’s a ton of constant, kind of requirement to be there the whole time – not just because I’m performing but I’m also generally producing and writing on my movies as well."

Reynolds says he's also going to use the time to work on his non-acting efforts - software platform MNTN and creative agency Maximum Effort, which he co-founded in 2018.

It seems we can add business man to the increasingly long list of Reynolds’ achievements.

The actor spoke about wanting a normal life for his kids, as well as himself, as their jet-setter lifestyle took its toll.

"We were always away, so the kids were away too,” he recalled.

"Now that they’re in school, they have a somewhat normal schedule."
