Social media was ablaze with comments about Kimi Raikkonen at the Formula 1 Bahrain GP yesterday after a particularly sickening incident.
The former world champion race car driver pulled into pit lane and his crew worked quickly to get the car refuelled and restocked, however Kimi was reportedly given the all clear before the Ferrari car was ready and he stepped on the accelerator.
A mechanic's leg was in the way of the back-left wheel, which slammed into the limb and virtually snapped it in two.
A stretcher was brought in and Francesco Cigarini was rushed to hospital, where it was later confirmed he suffered a shinbone and fibula fracture.
It seems as though he's in good spirits after posting a picture to Instagram saying: "Surgery ok. I have to thank all the people worried for me. Nothing else, just a big thanks. Hugs!"

He's also uploaded a video of him walking through the hospital with crutches, which is pretty goddamn impressive considering how rough the injury looking on TV.
Kimi was forced to retire from the Bahrain GP as a result of the incident and Team Ferrari has been fined €50,000.
The driver was heavily criticised on social media for not offering more sympathy or support to his team mate, but he hit back at his haters, saying: "I don't see what happens. My job is to go when the light is green.
"Unfortunately, he got hurt but my job is to go when the light goes green. I don't know more than that. I didn't finish the race so it is not great."

But he later released a statement on Ferrari's website saying: "What happened to our guy Francesco today at the pit-stop is very unfortunate. I feel sorry for him and hope he's going to be OK soon.
"It's always a bad thing when someone gets injured but I am sure he has the best people taking good care of him and I wish him a speedy recovery.
"Unfortunately something must have gone wrong and we'll need to find out what. The car had good speed today but I had some wheelspin at the start. Anyway, there's not much I can do now but wait for the next race, where we'll try to do our best."

Kimi's teammate Sebastian Vettel, who ended up winning the Bahrain GP, added: "I am very happy, even though it's sad to see one of our guys getting injured. I wish him to get well soon, I know he's in very good hands now.
