WrestleMania Could Have An All-Female Main Event For The First Time Ever

History could be made at this year's WrestleMania as it looks like for the first time ever, the main event will be a match-up between two of the WWE's biggest female stars.

If the reports are to be believed, the showpiece finale of the biggest event in Professional Wrestling - often referred to as the 'Showcase of the Immortals' and 'The Grandest Stage of Them All' - will feature RAW Women's Champion Ronda Rousey against Becky 'The Man' Lynch.

The reports in Sports Illustrated suggest that the powers that be at World Wrestling Entertainment have already decided that the first women's headline event at a WrestleMania is on the cards.

Whilst there is also talk of adding Charlotte Flair - daughter of the famous Ric Flair (woo!) - to the match as well, making it a Triple Threat match, any women's match as the main event would represent a significant step forward in what has been known as the WWE's 'Women's Evolution'.

There's a significant amount of support for the move, as well. WWE Hall of Famer and - to many people - the voice of WWE, Jim Ross, has spoken about how this match is the one that needs to take centre stage on Wrestling's big occasion.

Ross, who for once doesn't want somebody to stop the damn match, said on his Ross Report podcast: "To me, it's the right thing to do.

"It would be a damn shame to miss this opportunity. It's time to let Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey go out and make history."

Mah Gawd.

Of course, there will be some big match-ups, including WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar against Seth Rollins, but Ross reckons that none would set wrestling fans' pulses racing like seeing the first meeting between the two female superstars.

He continued: "By the time the main event rolls around, that audience will have been at WrestleMania for hours,

"But they will still have more of an emotional investment than they would in any other match, and that is including Lesnar and Rollins, who will no doubt have a great match.

"Lesnar and Rollins can't go right before them, that would be a mistake. They should go at the end of the first part of the show. The main event is the perfect scenario to close with Becky and Ronda."

He added: "WWE should get all the props in the world for what they've done. They've evolved women's wrestling. Now they can take that next step and cultivate the journey to make women's wrestling even more prominent than it already is today."

Well, let's see if they make it happen come April 7.
