When Is The Sandman Out On Netflix?

Netflix’s adaptation of DC Comics’ The Sandman comes out in 2022.

Netflix’s adaptation of DC Comics’ The Sandman comes out in 2022.

Since the series, which is based on Neil Gaiman’s bestselling book for DC Comics was announced last year, news and updates about it have been sparse. Here’s everything we know.

What is The Sandman about?

First and foremost, the Sandman is not to be confused with the Spider-Man villain from the Marvel Universe. In the DC Universe, The Sandman is an immortal embodiment of dreams. He’s more commonly known as Morpheus or the Lord of Dreaming - a “vast hallucinatory landscape housing all the dreams of any and everyone who’s ever existed. Regardless of cultures or historical eras, all dreamers visit Morpheus’ realm—be they gods, demons, muses, mythical creatures or simply humans who teach Morpheus some surprising lessons,” says DC Comics.

The story sees Morpheus being captured by a mere mortal, much to his embarrassment. DC Comics’ story synopsis reads: “Upon his escape, Morpheus finds himself at a crossroads, forced to deal with the enormous changes within both himself and his realm. His journey to find his place in a world that’s drastically changed takes him through mythical worlds to retrieve his old heirlooms, the back roads of America for a twisted reunion, and even Hell itself—to receive the dubious honour of picking the next Devil. But he’ll learn his greatest lessons at the hands of his own family, the Endless, who—like him—are walking embodiments of the most influential aspects of existence.” It’s understood the Netflix series will adapt the original storyline.

The Sandman release date: When is The Sandman on Netflix?

We’ve been told by Netflix that The Sandman is “coming soon” and will be out in 2022. But an actual date hasn’t been set yet.

We know that filming for the series wrapped in July 2021, so we can’t imagine subscribers will be waiting too much longer.

We expect it to be out on Netflix in the first half of 2022, but we’ll let you know as soon as we get any clarification.

The Sandman trailer

No official trailer has been released yet, but Netflix has released a ‘first look’ clip, which you can see below. As soon as the official trailer is out, we’ll drop it right here.
