Try as some might to resist, it's undeniable that in the last couple of years we've become more accustomed to the possibilities of life, or even meals without meat. Even the staunchest of carnivores have inevitably found themselves at a barbeque or a dinner party tucking into a delicious burger or sausage, savouring each bite of its juicy, flavoursome meat, only to find - it's not meat.

Of course, one of the main reasons for this shift in attitudes towards plant-based meat substitutes comes from a huge increase and improvement in the options available to us. If you've enjoyed experimenting with the joys of plant-based alternatives in recent times, you'll be thrilled then to learn of the existence of another new arrival to the scene. Sons of Butchers is a new company set up by the fourth-generation Master Butchers of Loughnane's in Galway, who have gone from herds to herbs with a new range that is set to revolutionise the plant-based meat alternative market here in Ireland.

It's not just your standard ch*cken burger patty you can look forward to from these guys - they already have a vast range of products available including Mince Cheat, Bluff Burgers, Cheatballs, Trick 'n' Strips and Switch'n Saussie. The bonus feature of all Sons of Butchers products is that they come with all of the nutritional and environmental benefits of opting for a plant-based diet without sacrificing the distinct flavours and textures of real meat.

The kicker of so many great plant-based products is that it can be hell to actually get your hands on them. For the more passive veggies among us - who might even be partial to the odd steak or a cheeky Nandos from time to time - ordering your sausages online, a week in advance, just isn't going to cut it, let's be real? Thankfully that's not an issue with the Sons of Butchers products. Despite Loughnane's only launching the range in May of this year, it's already available in Dunnes Stores, Tesco and SuperValu stores across all of Ireland so you won't have to travel far or go to any unnecessary hassle to sample their delectable products.

They say hunger is the best sauce but we think there might be a condiment that pips it to the post - the sweet satisfaction of knowing that your food choices have contributed positively towards the global climate crisis, of course! By opting for plant-based alternatives like Sons of Butchers products, you can chow down knowing you've also taken an important step in reducing your carbon footprint.

Did you know that eating just one plant-based meal a day for one year saves almost 200,000 litres of water? So those Trick 'n' Strips may be finger licking good, but they're also helping you do your part to save our lovely planet - what more could you want?

To browse the whole range of Sons of Butchers products, head over to their official website here where you'll also find a selection of delicious recipes that will help you write your shopping list for the next trip to Tesco, Dunnes Stores or SuperValu!
