Abbey Clancey left viewers squirming when she pierced Peter Crouch's eyebrow as part of a stunt for a TV show - much to his horror.

Abbey, 34, joined her husband on Saturday night's episode of Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer, having arrived with needle in hand, ready to entertain the nation with some amateur piercing.

She told co-host Maya Jama and fellow guest Jack Whitehall that she'd completed a course on piercing, but was terrified at the prospect of putting a hole in her husband.

"I've done a course with an expert," she said.

"I'm so scared of it, I don't even have anything pierced..."

Her 39-year-old husband Peter seemed equally anxious about the whole thing, perhaps understandably.

"This is nerve-wracking, it's ridiculous," he said.

"The thing is, you trust a stranger. The fact that I know Ab so well... I know she's not good at piercing."

Realising another concerning outcome, he added: "Also the other thing is - I forgot this - I'm going to be leaving the studio tonight with an eyebrow piercing."

Maya told viewers that there was a piercing expert on standby to make sure everything went smoothly - well, as smoothly as it could do, I guess - and warned others not to try this at home.

Accepting his painful fate, Peter got himself ready and said: "This is one of those points where you think, how have I got in this situation? What I'm holding on to is the fact I'm going to look so cool."

But as his missus launched the huge needle into his eyebrow, the former footballer had second thoughts, asking desperately: "Why the f**k am I doing this?"

Of course, surely all that pain became worth it when Peter was able to grab a mirror and check out his new look... Or not.

"That's f***ing terrible," he said.

The stunt was part of Peter's Extreme Retirement Challenges on the show, which involves him attempting things he wasn't previously allowed to do when he was still a footballer.

And it seemed to sufficiently entertain people watching at home, with one tweeting: "Peter Crouch having his wife pierce his eyebrow live on TV. Saturday nights have never been so good."

Another said: "Peter Crouch getting his eyebrow pierced on national television is peak lockdown."

A third added: "Take it out before if heals mate it looks s***."
