Good Morning Britain presenter Andi Peters accidentally spoiled his producer's surprise engagement announcement live on air during this morning's show.

The show host was just wrapping up the competition segment of the programme when his co-host Ranvir Singh pointed out a photo on the screen behind him.

The photo was of Andi with his producer Claire, enjoying a spin on a roller coaster in Las Vegas. Peters then moved to congratulate her on her forthcoming nuptials, but then quickly realised that there was a chance she hadn't told her family and friends about the engagement just yet.

Oh dear.

He said: "By the way, this young lady here Claire, congrat- oh, she might not have told anybody.

"Ehh, awkward, congratulations. Oh dear, what have I done?"

Well, at least it's a story to tell - not many people have their engagement announced to everyone on terrestrial television.

Ranvir tried to help out her ailing co-star, offering: "She's on the telly, why would anybody have a picture with Andi Peters unless there was a reason?"

Andi continued: "No, she's one of my producers - I know she doesn't look old enough. She's just got engaged. I've told everyone she's got engaged, I go congratulations."

Luckily - perhaps - there is still a chance that Andi wasn't the first to blab about the news. He reassured himself: "Everyone must know. Congratulations."

Congratulations, indeed.

Elsewhere on Good Morning Britain today, viewers were left shocked as NBC News' Jay Gray reported from inside the US state of Louisiana, which is currently being battered by Hurricane Laura.

Viewers were shocked to see the reporter outside, getting buffeted by the incredible strong winds before the segment was abruptly ended so that he could take cover after nearly getting blown over.

Jay said: "A bit of a lull but here it comes again, you can feel it picking up, and that's only going to continue to turn and get much more intense."

Then, as if the weather was listening, he was jolted forward by a particularly strong gust.

Presenter Sean Fletcher then said: "I think, for your safety Jay, we are going to have to leave you. You're talking about that being a lull, I can't imagine what it's going to be like when it really picks up.

"The conditions look dangerous already for Jay."

Ranvir added: "Jay, go and make yourself safe somewhere - I assume you can go and get shelter in a vehicle for a while. My goodness me, that is extraordinary."
