I'm A Celeb runner-up Andy Whyment has said he's looking forward to getting back to his 'normal, boring life' after his stint Down Under.

And it's good news for fans of his Coronation Street character Kirk, because the star has said he plans on returning to the cobbles pretty soon.

ITV

Speaking after he was reunited with his wife Nichola and his two kids, Whyment told The Mirror: "I might be in work next week. We've got filming next week. We break up on the 20th for two weeks.

"I'm looking forward to getting back and just getting into my normal boring life of just sitting on the sofa, getting home from work, closing the front door and watching telly.

"Corrie's on series link, yeah, so I'll be catching up on Corrie. I always do.

"I'll still remain myself. I'll still go to Asda on a Friday, do the big shop with Nic. But I know I'm going to get recognised a lot more now, which, don't get me wrong, is nice. But it certainly won't change me.

"I'm happy to do what I do. I don't want a massive storyline. I love playing Kirk. He's one of those characters who floats about, but is never heavily involved."

He went on to say there's 'no chance of a singing career' as he's happy with the 'nice life' Corrie has given him. Fair enough.

The actor also has some fairly sensible plans for his I'm A Celeb fee, telling The Mirror he will use it to help play off his mortgage and put some into savings.

"I'm going to pay some of my mortgage off," he told the paper.

"That's one of the reasons I did the show. I want to get my mortgage down to five years, so that was the main thing and put some money into savings. Because we love our holidays.

"So Christmas presents, pay some money off the mortgage and holidays."

The delighted runner-up said he was overwhelmed to nab second place, ahead of Roman Kemp, with fans 'voting for Andy Whyment and not Kirk from Corrie'.

Whyment was beaten to first place by former EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa, who was crowned the new Queen of the Jungle on Sunday evening.
