If you've been sitting at home alone and wondering when your future husband or wife is going to walk through your door, wonder no more. Channel 9 has announced it is now taking applications for the next season of Married At First Sight Australia.

Imagine having experts evaluate your relationship history to find your perfect match - and then getting hitched with someone after seeing them in the flesh for all of five seconds.

Oh wait, and the best part? It's all on national television.

Channel 9

Well, this could be you. The network says there will definitely be a new season that will begin filming later this year and producers are looking for people to apply to appear on the show.

Channel 9 says the application is super easy - you'll have to fill out a quick questionnaire detailing some personal information, and add some photos and videos so producers can get a good idea of your personality.

Then you'll have to answer the hard questions, like 'challenges you've faced in your search for love' and 'why you're looking for love'. This is a chance to show people that you're really in need of expert help and a quick marriage.

If you've had nothing but beautiful, happy relationships then it's doubtful you'll be picked. But hey, never say never.

You also have to be over the age of 25, have been an Australian resident for at least two years and be available for around four months for filming.

But the network also had some curt words for wannabe applicants: "You have to actually be interested in finding love - shocking, we know. So if you're the kind who isn't keen on the whole 'marriage and commitment' thing, maybe rethink your application."

Married At First Sight started off as a Danish programme before it was brought to our sunny shores. It's meant to be an 'experiment' to see whether people could list attributes about their potential partner and then be thrown together in a relationship to see what happens.

While it's hoped that everyone ends up with a happy story, the show often results in some serious drama. Some contestants end up in screaming matches with their partners and many don't last the test of time.

So if you fancy a bit of screen time and maybe a husband or wife at the end of it then what are you waiting for? Here's a link to the application.
