Despite director James Cameron's concerns about the reception of the upcoming Avatar sequel, one of the film's stars believes it will beat Avengers: Endgame to become the highest grossing film ever.
Stephen Lang is confident Avatar 2 will be a huge success when it's released in December next year.
He is set to return as the cruel Colonel Quaritch in the franchise's next film, and when asked in an interview with The National whether he thought the film had the potential to beat the current global box office record, he responded confidently: "I expect so."
Well, you can't really argue with that.

As it stands, the latest Avengers movie is the highest grossing film ever, making a ridiculous $2.8 billion (£2.3bn) at the box office.
At least Lang has kept the faith though - even the film's creator has said he's worried people won't be interested in the universe of Pandora, which would be a bit of a shame, seeing as it's almost been a decade in the making.
Explaining why the sequels have taken their sweet time in being made, the Titanic director told Collider: "We're doing it. It's never been done before and it's very tricky because our motion capture system, like most motion capture systems, is what they call optical base, meaning that it uses markers that are photographed with hundreds of cameras.
"The problem with water is not the underwater part, but the interface between the air and the water, which forms a moving mirror. That moving mirror reflects all the dots and markers, and it creates a bunch of false markers.

"It's a little bit like a fighter plane dumping a bunch of chaff to confuse the radar system of a missile. It creates thousands of false targets, so we've had to figure out how to get around that problem, which we did.
"Basically, whenever you add water to any problem, it just gets ten times harder. So, we've thrown a lot of horsepower, innovation, imagination and new technology at the problem, and it's taken us about a year and a half now to work out how we're going to do it."
The sequels will see the likes of Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver reunite, with a few new faces making an appearance, including new cast members Kate Winslet, Vin Diesel, Jermaine Clement, Michelle Yeoh and Edie Falco joining the party.
Avatar 2 is set for release on 17 December 2021 in the UK.
