Bad Boys Producer Is Working On Draft For Fourth Film

It seems everyone's pretty pleased with how things are going, why stop now?

The latest instalment for the Bad Boys franchise was so successful it left people wanting much more and it looks like that could be on the horizon.

Well, that's according to the producer Jerry Bruckheimer, after he revealed a fourth film is currently in the works.

Speaking to Collider, he said: "We had a great experience on the first one, both through the development process with Tom Rothman [chair of Sony] and his team, and then through the editing process and filming process...

"We put together, along with their help, a movie that's very satisfying for the audience, and we'd like to do it again, and I think they'd like us to do it again. We're currently working on a draft for the fourth one."

This isn't the first time that news of another movie was teased. Back in January, news broke that Chris Bremner (who worked on Bad Boys For Life) was reportedly lined up to pen the script once again, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Smith and Lawrence are expected to return (of course) and the plan is not to have the same time lag between Bad Boys II and Bad Boys for Life - 17 years is too long to wait.

It's not surprising there's talks for a fourth film, considering the success of the 2020 instalment which made the franchise the highest rated of the trilogy after its huge opening weekend.

During the first full weekend at the box office, the film took over $62 million (£50m), topping Bad Boys II which took $46 million (£37m) in its own opening weekend back in 2003, and the original Bad Boys which took $15 million (£12m).

The first Bad Boys film was released in 1995 and followed lifelong pals Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) as they attempt to protect a murder witness while investigating the theft of heroin from their own precinct in Miami.

The next film, Bad Boys II, came out eight years later in 2003 and saw the pair attempt to stop MDMA from getting into circulation in Miami.

The pair temporarily contemplated calling their partnership quits after Lowrey started dating Burnett's sister, but obviously (and thankfully) they kissed and made up. After all, bad boys are indeed for life.
