Double Oscar-winner Ben Affleck shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! how Adam Driver - aka Star Wars villain Kylo Ren - got him out of a tight spot and whipped up some amazing last-minute birthday presents for his eight-year-old son.

Affleck and Driver have recently been working together on The Last Duel - Ridley Scott's upcoming movie about duelling medieval knights.

Unfortunately, filming continued right up to Affleck's son Samuel's birthday, leaving the actor scrambling to get to his son in time for the big day.

Affleck has joint custody of Samuel with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner - whom he divorced in 2018 - making it imperative he arrived on time armed with impressive presents.

The actor told Jimmy Kimmel: "One of the things that is really important to me is I'm a divorced dad, I get the half the amount of time with my son and it's his birthday.

"So I said to them [The Last Duel production team], 'I'll do whatever the schedule needs, but by the 27th [February] I've got to be in LA.'"

Despite the timings being tight, Affleck thought he had everything under control.

The former Batman continued: "I had the presents set up, everything was getting shipped and sent, so I was going to pick up and go to his [Samuel's] surprise party.

"I got to my house, I could see the look on the face of the guy who works with me. I said, 'Where are the presents?' And he was like, 'They didn't get here.'

Affleck - a fromer Batman - was devastated when he learned the presents for his son hadn't arrived.

"So I had to show up to my son's party with no gift for him. It was like this sinking, awful feeling."

It sounds like every parent's nightmare, but thankfully help was at hand.

As luck would have it, Samuel is a massive Star Wars fan - and his mind was blown by the fact Affleck was working with Kylo Ren.

Driver - being the massive LAD that he is - heard it was Samuel's birthday, phoned Affleck's sister to get the address, and sent a video message, a card and a load of presents - including a Kylo Ren doll, Kylo Ren LEGO and a signed picture of the mopey Sith lord.

Turns out Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) is actually pretty nice in real life.

Affleck went on: "I watched him open all the other presents and said, 'Sam, my presents didn't get here on time. But I did get a present from someone who really wanted to make sure you had a gift.'

"And he was like, 'Who?' And I said, 'Kylo Ren.'

"And he opened the present and I played him a video of Kylo Ren. It was an incredibly moving and powerful moment.

"Adam made me a hero to my kid."

Affleck concluded: "It's a really good lesson about doing those small gestures of kindness because you have no idea... It meant the f***ing world to me."

Adam Driver, we salute you.
