Bernie Ecclestone has been slammed after he was interviewed live on This Morning and explained he's not changed any nappies because 'that's what wives are for'.

The 89-year-old ex-Formula One boss sat down for a chat with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby this morning (10 July) alongside his wife Fabiana Flosi, 44, as the pair spoke about their new baby, Ace.

The presenters were asking whether he's been a 'hands on' dad and Fabiana replied: "He helps, and he looks after him - he's a special person and we are super happy."

Asking whether he gets up for night feeds, Bernie replies 'no' and as Phillip pushes: "No nappies then, Bernie?" He said: "I do whatever's necessary when it's necessary - that's what wives are for." Ouch.

Holly looks awkward with the response, while Phillip points out the obvious saying: "That's going to be controversial."

Bernie went on: "Most things I say seem to be, it's how people take them."

Phil and Holly didn't know what to do.

People were quick to turn to Twitter, airing their opinions. One person ranted: "Bernie Ecclestone interview on This Morning. Disaster."

Another added: "Bernie Ecclestone on This Morning though. I want to tear my eyes out."

A third said: "God this Bernie Ecclestone interview is an absolute car crash."

Earlier in the chat, Bernie was asked whether he wanted to be in the delivery room with his wife during the birth, to which he replied: "No, I'm not a doctor. I'd rather watch a video."

Holly then asked what it's been like for him to become a father again later on in life. Ecclestone already has three daughters - the eldest being 65.

He said: "It was arranged, I wanted to be a father and Fabiana really wanted to be a mum as well.

"I didn't realise that being a father, which now I am, how good and interesting it is to your life - or to my life anyway, I don't know about anybody else."

You know you've already got three other kids, right Bernie?
