The internationally-beloved kids (and adults) TV show Bluey has just kicked off its second season on ABC.

But the creators of the show thought it would be handy to not only be entertaining, but also informative for their young audience during the coronavirus pandemic.

While they didn't get a cartoon Blue Heeler to explain Covid-19 to young people, they did manage to teach them a good lesson about the importance of washing your hands.

The show unveiled a new song that kids can sing while they're washing their mitts.

People have been suggesting singing 'Happy Birthday' twice through or the chorus of your favourite song to ensure you spend the appropriate time getting your hands clean.

But considering kids go absolutely wild for Bluey then this might be the motivation they need to wash their hands.

Bluey executive producer Daley Pearson told the Daily Telegraph: "We just had an overwhelming response from the audience who were sadly stuck at home and just wanted to do anything to help them.

"A few of them requested this and we thought it was a great idea."

If you're a big fan of the show then you'll know that season two started this week.

You can watch each episode as it gets broadcast, which is every day at 8am on ABC Kids and again at 6:20pm.

After they get shown on the telly, you can watch them back on iView as well as the other 52 episodes that belong to season one.

Set in Brisbane, the show follows a six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy named Bluey, who lives with her father, Bandit; mother, Chilli; and younger sister, Bingo.

It's been praised left, right and centre for offering a good look at a nuclear family growing up in Australia. Strong family values are promoted during the series and viewers get an insight into how parents can play with their kids.
