Bradley Walsh is set to retire from hosting The Chase after being the face of the show for 12 years.

Walsh, who is one of the most beloved figures on British telly, is just about ready to call time on his 40-year career in showbusiness, although he hasn't revealed exactly when he'll stop.

Speaking on the Sliding Doors podcast, the 61-year-old said: "You know what, in a couple of years' time I won't have to do any of it, I'll be retired and that'll be it.

"It seems like I'm on your screen all the time only because I cram everything in a certain area of the year. We make 210 Chases, 16 Celebrity Chases, 16 Beat The Chasers. It's only actually 86 days recording.

"So out of 365 days, you'd imagine I have loads of time off. But once you've got your bedrock of shows set in, that allows you then to go off and do other things.

"I don't actually have time off, I have meetings, I have personal appearances I have to make and stuff like that with other things I've got going on, so it's quite tricky to juggle it about."

Whilst Walsh is best known for his work on The Chase, he is also the star of Breaking Dad alongside his 23-year-old son Barney.

The show sees the pair travel on a roadtrip across a number of countries, getting into various situations and scrapes along the way.

Bradley explained how that work means he has to block out massive segments of the year for all of his various projects.

He said: "The Chase allows me to do the other stuff which I really want to do - not that I don't love doing The Chase.

"The Larkins is the new series, so that's a 14 to 15-week shoot, and then you need five to six weeks on the road for Breaking Dad."

He's a busy boy, basically.

Brad also revealed the reason that he's never been spotted on Strictly Come Dancing.

Simply put, he can't dance.

He explained: "Here's the trick of doing stuff you can get away with, you've got to be brutally honest with yourself. If you don't get it you can't sell it.

"If you can't dance, you can't sell it, no matter how big a showman you are. Stick to what you know best. I've been asked a couple of times to go on Strictly.

"But I'm not a dancer. I don't even think I'm a good dad dancer. I'm a bad dad dancer, which makes things even worse."

Perhaps he'll find time to learn a couple of moves once decides to pack The Chase in.
