Season seven of Brooklyn Nine-Nine hits screens in the US this Thursday. Hallelujah.

Yes, after months of patience and waiting for Jake and the gang to return to lives, the day has finally come.

And if that wasn't good enough, the new season, which airs on NBC on Thursday evening, is being kicked off by a double episode.

Now, while we don't know what lies in store for fans in the upcoming season, last month it was revealed it will be 13 episodes long - much shorter than when the programme was aired on the Fox network, when the seasons varied between 22 and 23 episodes in length.

Those of you who follow the show will know it's not uncommon for there to be guest star, in the past they've had Nick Offerman, Patton Oswalt, and Pete Davidson to name but a few.

However, the show's main star Andy Samberg has been trying for some time to get one person in particular to appear.

He told Jimmy Fallon: "For us, there's one. My character is obsessed with Die Hard, so we've long said that getting Bruce Willy would be like a huge thing.

"I mean, I've appealed many times for this, I think maybe he's like waiting for the end to surprise us and shock the world, or, he hates me."

With season eight already green-lit, who knows, maybe Bruce will do the right thing.

But if you think we've got a wait for season seven, who knows when we'll see number eight.

However, there is some good news on the horizon. That's because Netflix has finally given Brits a date for when series six will land on the streaming site: 28 March.

When one fan on Twitter pushed their luck asking when Season 7 would be available, Netflix simply replied: 'don't'. Can't blame them for trying.

Meanwhile, others were quick to give them a pat on the back, with one saying: "FINALLYYYYYYY OMMMGGGGGGGGGG," another added that this was 'the tweet we've all been waiting for'.

Our friends across the pond have been able to tune into the sixth instalment already because the programme dropped in America back on 10 January 2019.

The season seven premiere airs on NBC on Thursday at 8pm eastern and 7pm central time.
