Fans of The Cube were convinced that two brothers who won £50,000 on the show somehow 'cheated', despite producers insisting that they had simply been successful in the challenges and that all games are 'overseen by an independent adjudicator'.

Tayif and Mo, a team of two brothers from Manchester, appeared on the game show on Saturday, impressing viewers as they made it through to the last task after flying through all of their previous challenges.

For the final round, the two had to move all of the coloured balls from one side of the cube to the other - which may sound simple enough, but as always, there was a frustrating twist.

They had to roll balls down a slide to one another, and were only allowed to pick each one up once it reached the end, which naturally made the process a little less streamlined.

However, in the end, they managed to beat the clock with 0.4 seconds to spare, leaving the audience and host Philip Schofield in shock.

But some fans watching at home weren't quite so convinced, with many taking to Twitter to say they believed the duo had 'cheated'.

One person wrote: "Nah get lost that was clearly won by cheating. I had to rewind. He took the ball before it got to the red!! They failed other people for that! #thecube."

Responding to their tweet, another agreed: "My thoughts actually. When I saw that back I said it wasn't in the red. Players were penalised last week for that."

Someone else said: "Absolutely! I did the same, rewound and checked. Clearly failed."

A fourth added: "I just said the same to my wife!! 100% caught that before it got to the red!!!"

Over in another thread, another person tweeted: "That guy on the cube took one of the balls way too early, something not right there #thecube."

A second user replied: "I've just said the exact same thing. They stopped some winning it the other week for the same thing. Rigged?"

Many other people, however, had nothing but love for Tayif and his little brother Mo.

One person tweeted: "Total respect for these brothers. Manchester's finest #TheCube."

Someone else shared their congratulations, writing: "Well done Tayif and Mo on winning £50,000. Wow, what a phenomenal game!!!! Good job guys #TheCube."

A spokesperson for production told LADbible: "All Cube games are overseen by an independent adjudicator.

"In this instance, the game was checked from various camera angles in the studio during filming and the contestant did indeed catch the ball in the red zone and their attempt was a success."
