Channel 4 is on the lookout for true crime fans for a new murder mystery programme called Murder Island.

The forthcoming series comes from production company STV Studios, which put a callout for contestants on Twitter, asking: "Do you have what it takes to solve a murder mystery?"

The tweet explains that the folk at STV Studios are making a 'brand-new television series' for Channel 4, and are looking for 'teams of ordinary British people to try their hand at becoming detectives to solve a murder mystery'.

Contestants will be armed with the 'latest investigative techniques and police resources' to help them identify a suspect, with the hopes of bringing them to justice.

Filming is due to take place in May, and will adhere to Covid safety protocols.

A post on the STV Studios website offers a little more information, saying: "STV Studios are making a brand-new television series for Channel 4 and are looking for teams of ordinary British people to try their hand at becoming detectives to solve a murder mystery.

"We are looking for teams of two to take on the case.

"The civilian 'detectives' will have police resources at their disposal - pathologists, forensic scientists, psychologists etc.

"They will be competing to see if they can be the first to identify the suspect and bring them to justice."

Before applying, people should make sure they have a team of two that are interested - whether it be couples, friends, colleagues or family members.

They will also be asked to upload a picture and video as part of the application, which has a deadline of Sunday 28 March.

All those years of binging on grisly true crime documentaries will at last come to good use - and not just in all those drunken murder mystery parties you've been doing on Zoom.

If you think you've got what it takes, find out more and apply online here. If you have any questions, you can also email [email protected] or call 07816 084 061.

There's no word yet of when Murder Island will be released on Channel 4, but we'll of course keep you posted.
