Charlie Cox is reportedly joining the cast of the upcoming Spider-Man 3 to reprise his role of Daredevil/Matt Murdock.

This could mean that the Daredevil series which was cancelled by Netflix and picked up by the MCU will continue. Music to many fan's ears.

The reports have originated from Murphy's Multiverse who has learned that Charlie Cox is set to make his grand debut in the third instalment of Spider-Man. They add that this is a deal that's been in place for several months.

LADbible has approached both Marvel and Sony for a comment but neither have responded just yet.

One thing we do know for sure is that Alfred Molina will be returning as Doctor Octopus in the eagerly-anticipated film.

The actor previously played Otto Octavius, a scientist who becomes the eight-limbed villain, in 2004's Spider-Man 2.

Jamie Foxx is also expected to reprise his role as Electro in the upcoming Spidey film, which is due to be released next December.

In October, Foxx shared a picture to Instagram in which he all but confirmed he is returning to the role - though he subsequently deleted the post.

Asked whether he would be playing the character once again, he recently told Cinemablend: "You're absolutely right, I can't speak on it. But if I'm in it, I'll be so happy."

Benedict Cumberbatch is also expected to reprise his role as Doctor Strange.

Tom Holland will take on the lead role, as he did in Captain America: Civil War (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).

The 24-year-old touched down in Atlanta to begin shooting in October.

Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are also set to return for the forthcoming movie, according to reports from Collider.

As well as potentially bringing back Maguire and Garfield, it's also rumoured that Emma Stone will reprise her role as Gwen Stacy, and Kirsten Dunst will play Mary Jane Watson again.

According to internet tipsters, the movie commenced shooting in New York in October, and the film is currently slated for release on 17 December 2021.

If everything goes to plan and the world is back to something resembling normality by that point, we might get the chance to enjoy the new film in an actual theatre.
