Chet Hanks Causes Controversy By Saying This Summer Will Be A 'White Boy Summer'
| Last updated
It's a play on Megan Thee Stallion's song 'Hot Girl Summer' and - to be quite honest - it's not immediately clear what he means by it.
However, it's not the first time that the 30-year-old Hanks has courted controversy and been accused of being a bit racially insensitive.
Last year, he was criticised for putting on a fake - and utterly cringeworthy - Jamaican accent at the 2020 Golden Globe awards.
This time, he shared a post on Instagram in which he said: "I just got this feeling man, that this summer is, it's about to be a white boy summer,
"Take it how you want."
He then added: "I'm not talking about Trump, NASCAR type white,
"I'm talking about, you know, me, Jon B, Jack Harlow type white boy summer.
"Let me know if you guys can vibe with that and get ready, 'cuz I am."
It's quite difficult to unpack what he means by that, especially given his flimsy description of precisely what kind of 'white boy summer' it may or may not be.
However, we can try.
Jack Harlow is an American singer and - yes - a white boy.
Still not sure what he means by this though.
Jon B is also a white musician, but that doesn't fill in the gaps either.
Anyway, it's been a successful year so far for Hanks, given that he's just starred in the hit show Your Honor alongside Brian Cranston.
Despite that, people online are still baffled by his strange antics, and most are wondering what exactly he means by 'white boy summer'.
One Twitter user commented: "If this summer is like Chet Hanks has defined it I'm quarantining myself till 2022 thanks."
Another wrote: "I'm still holding out a little hope that Chet Hanks has been playing a role for years and is the best actor in his family."
A third wrote: "Tom Hanks wished for his career on a monkey paw and Chet Hanks was the consequence that came with it."
No doubt Hanks will come out and explain what he has said on Instagram at some point, let's just hope he does it in his own accent.
