Chris Evans Puts Dog In Knives Out-Style Cable Knit Sweater, Internet Suitably Impressed
Rian Johnson's modern whodunnit Knives Out has been one of 2019's most surprising end-of-year hits, with many praising the clever twists and turns that manage to prove murder mysteries aren't just for Agatha Christie novels.
However, among all the claim has emerged one particularly unlikely standout star, and that's Chris Evans' sweater.
Yup, the cream cable-knit sweater that he's seen sporting in the film became an instant hit with many viewers and was soon turned into a bit of a meme.
Hell, even the film's official Twitter account felt the need to address it, changing its name from Knives Out to 'Chris Evans' Sweater Stan Account'. Smart.
And now it's Evans himself getting in on the action, having roped in his faithful pup Dodger for a particularly meta Christmas message.
That's right, a four-legged version of the famous sweater, being modelled by the actor's adorable canine accomplice: the rest of the internet may as well give up now.
Now, there's no explicit mention of the film - or its jumper - in tweet. But Evans knew exactly what he was doing, and the people noticed.
Someone else even managed to draw another festive comparison, in the form of young Kevin McAllister (Macaulay Culkin).
Dodger, pal, you wore it best - okay?
The film, in which Evans plays spoilt playboy Hugh Ransom Drysdale, premiered earlier this year at the Toronto International Film Festival and has gone on to receive critical acclaim across the board - with 96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
Also starring the likes of Daniel Craig and Jamie Lee Curtis, it follows in the footsteps of a classic murder mystery while playfully dropping timely jokes about Game of Thrones, Hamilton and dark-web incels.
The official synopsis reads: "When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is mysteriously enlisted to investigate.
"From Harlan's dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan's untimely death."
In short, if you haven't seen it yet you need to rectify that immediately... If for Chris Evans' sweater alone.
