The infamous comedy duo Cheech and Chong, who gained a cult following for their hilarious stoner escapades, have revealed they've set their sights on writing a horror film.

They last hit the big screen together in 1984 in The Corsican Brothers, but Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are keen to reunite as the lovable stoner duo. One half of the comedic pair, Tommy Chong has revealed in a chat with Movie Web that he is already penning a horror movie as their next move.

In the exclusive interview, he told Movie Web: "Every comedy team before they broke up, they always had a horror movie. Abbott and Costello Halloween. Abbott and Costello meet the monster. Bing Crosby and Bob Hope, they had one. Everybody has a horror movie. So I always wanted to do a horror movie.

"In fact, we did a reunion tour movie and I wanted to make that a horror movie but I didn't have the clout that I once had with Cheech, so I couldn't talk him into it. It's a nice genre to play with, you can have a lot of fun with it. Like Get Out, I like that approach to it."

The pair rose to fame in the 1970s after releasing comedy albums and eventually moving into the film industry.

Although the now 81-year-old actor and movie veteran doubts the movie will ever be made. He added: "Oh, I doubt it will get made. Right now my agent and I are working on a lot of things.

"But mainly, I'm working on staying warm, staying comfortable and high."

The pairing, consisting of Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong, first rose to fame in the 1970s after releasing comedy albums and eventually moving into the film industry. They are most well known for their film Up In Smoke released in 1978, but they also starred in Nice Dreams, Still Smokin and Cheech & Chong's Animated Movie in 2013.

The pair also got fans hopes up when they suggested they would be the perfect hosts for the Oscars last year, after Kevin Hart famously pulled out.

Whilst seeing Cheech and Chong back together again on the big screen might be a long way off, you can catch Tommy Chong in Color Out Of Space which has been released this weekend.
