Coronation Street's Kimberly Hart-Simpson has opened up during an interview on Good Morning Britain, revealing her support of the LGBTQ+ community while declaring her bisexuality.

Speaking with host Lorraine Kelly, the actor - who recently joined the cast as sex worker Nicky Wheatley - explained she'd designed a dress inspired by Pride Month for her best friend (and former Hollyoaks star) Jessica Ellis to wear on the red carpet.

Hart-Simpson said: "It was during Pride Month, so it was really important, we were representing the LGBTQ community and I'm part of that as well.

"I represent the B. So for me to do that was really, really important."

She also joked about the faith her friend had put in her to let her design the dress, saying: "This was the discovery of when I was starting to learn to sew, so she put a lot of trust in me to do that!"

Hart-Simpson only made her first appearance on the show earlier this month, but revealed in the interview that there's a big reason her character is there and that she hopes to be around on the show for a long time.

Nicky, she revealed, has a secret past and that viewers will learn as the show progresses that she's hiding something - all of which looks set to revealed in due course.

This week, her call girl character was seen comforting Daniel Osbourne (played by Rob Mallard), who is still grieving over the loss of his late wife Sinead, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2018 and subsequently lost the fight for her life.

Quite what lies in store for her - or for Daniel - is anybody's guess, but it looks like the show is going to take a proper dive into Nicky's story and the events that led her to this present moment in time.

"It is yet to be discovered," said Hart-Simpson.

"Her history, her past. Why is she there, and why does she do what she does? That is all set to be revealed."

Sounds intriguing, to say the least...
