A couple who met on Blind Date say they're still madly in love with one another after celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary.

Sue and Alex Tatham first clapped eyes on each other on the dating show - hosted by the legendary Cilla Black - in 1988.

Little did they know that when the screens rolled back, they'd be staring at the love of their lives for the very first time.

However, that's exactly what happened, and on October 19, they had a lovely night out in London to celebrate their third decade as man and wife.

30 years on, and still going strong.

Speaking to Metro, they said: "Thirty years on and we're still being romantic today."

After their anniversary dinner, the pair went on to see a ballet performance of Romeo & Juliet at the London Opera House.

Alex said: "It was a fabulous evening where Sue and I celebrated 30 years of a wonderful marriage by doing lots of things we love best culminating in one of the best ballets we have ever seen.

"Thankfully our love story ends better than Romeo and Juliet's! We are still star-crossed lovers though!"

On the moment they met, Alex explained: "There was lovely Sue, looking absolutely gorgeous,"

Alex and Sue are still madly in love.

Sue continued: "My legs were shaking,

"We had to sit on these big stools and there was this big booming voice coming from the other side of the screen, which sounded charming, and all I could think was, 'I hope he's taller than me' because I have this thing about boyfriends being taller than girlfriends."

He was, and the pair were whisked away to the West of Ireland for their first date.

That was a success, despite the pair being put into hotels five miles apart, and upon their return to the studio, neither had any hesitation when asked whether there would be a second date.

The next two years saw them living apart from each other until Alex popped two questions, and Sue moved to London and agreed to marry him.

Then, in 1991, 17 million people tuned in for a Blind Date special which saw the pair become the first couple from the show to get married.

The pair were married in front of the cameras in 1991.

Now, they've got grown-up children of their own - 27-year-old Emily and 25-year-old Charlie - and are 'excited to plan' the rest of their lives together.

Alex said: "The most important thing is we look after each other and enjoy whatever life throws at us after 30 years of happy marriage,

"We're fantastic at laughing at life itself.

"We've had a happy marriage, even though there have been various things life has thrown at us, but generally our philosophy is to hold hands and laugh at life and it will all be alright."

Sue concluded: "I'm already excited".
