Dan Harmon Hints A Community Movie Is In The Works

'Six seasons and a movie' is a long running joke for fans of Community.

The phrase is said throughout the incredible TV show and since it was brought to an end after six seasons, everyone has been waiting for the inevitable movie.

People on social media have been begging for the phrase to be made true for Community and it looks like we could finally be getting what we've been asking for.

Series creator Dan Harmon hinted that a movie might be in the works.

Speaking to The Wrap, Harmon said: "I can tell people for sure that the enthusiasm for Community both for all of this time and the resurgence of it [on Netflix], there's always an aspect of that affects the marketplace.

"And when the marketplace gets affected, conversations happen. And when conversation happens, things happen."

Conversations are good. But he then elaborated just a tiny bit more.

"So I can say that there are conversations happening that people want to be happening and that I'm very, very excited about the coming months," he added.

Sure, it's not confirmation that a Community movie is definitely happening, but it's heading in the right direction.

When you put in the context of what executive producer and director of a couple of episodes, Joe Russo, had to say, the prospects of a film are looking very good.

Joe told Collider: "We'd certainly be willing to do it. We love our Community family. That cast, we're all still very close to all of them. It'd certainly be schedule-depending for us.

"But I believe there will be a Community movie, especially now that it's doing so well on streaming. Someone like Netflix could step up and make that movie."

*Ring, ring* yeah, hello, Netflix, we have a movie idea for you.

Until we get confirmation about that, fans can gear up for a little virtual reunion of your favourite on-screen cast.

Rolling Stone reports the main cast (except for Chevy Chase) will return for a charity table read, which will be broadcast next week.

Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Ken Jeong, Jim Rash and Donald Glover have all agreed to virtually come together.

Glover, who played Troy Barnes in the series, hasn't taken part in any Community event since the show ended, according to the A.V. Club, so this return is a very juicy update.

They will do a virtual table read of the episode titled 'Cooperative Polygraphy', from the fifth season, which deals with the death of Chase's character Pierce Hawthorne.
