Dawn French has revealed that she will be taking on the role of Reverend Geraldine Granger/Kennedy once again for a one-off special as part of BBC's Big Night In.

The 62-year-old shared a picture of her iconic cross necklace and dog collar with the caption that read: "Somethin interestin this way." How exciting.

Fans couldn't hold in their enthusiasm as one responded: "SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!!! GERALDINE," while another added: "I've literally just finished binge watching The Vicar of Dibley on Netflix this morning. I cannot wait!!"

A third commented on the positioning of the cross she is wearing, suggesting her character might have turned to the dark side: "Dawn, why is the cross upside down? Satanic?" In response another wrote: "Imagine! An evil Geraldine"

Dawn French isn't the only one making a comeback for the occasion because Peter Kay has called on key workers across the country to help recreate the iconic '(Is This The Way To) Amarillo' music video.

The 46-year-old comedian called upon fans to 'stomp along' to the original track to show support for the night of fundraising.

If you want to be in the final cut of the video, you need to make sure you're filming in landscape mode before uploading the footage on to social media and posting the clip alongside the hashtag #BigNightInAmarillo.

For one night only, Comic Relief, BBC Children in Need and BBC One are coming together for an evening of entertainment.

According to the channel, viewers should expect big surprises, money can't buy prizes and live music performances (from the artists' homes), with lots of famous faces coming together.

Paddy McGuinness will be hosting the show live alongside Matt Baker, Zoe Ball, Lenny Henry and Davina McCall. David Walliams and Matt Lucas will also be back on TV for the first time in over a decade with a new sketch.

The money raised by The Big Night In will be split equally between Comic Relief and Children in Need and will go on to support local charities and projects in the UK, so they can continue to provide vital emergency support.

BBC's Big Night In will air on 23 April at 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
