Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has revealed he's up for seeing Game of Thrones star Lena Headey as Lady Deadpool, having said: "Bring it on!"

Headey recently joked she'd love to take on the role of Deadpool, saying in an interview with GeekHouseShow if she was going to play a comic book character she'd pick the Merc with a Mouth.

As Ryan Reynolds is already taking care of that character - and is set to reprise his turn as Deadpool in a forthcoming third movie - Heady said defeatedly: "Anyway, that's been taken."

However, maybe all is not lost just yet, as Liefeld reckons there might be another character Headey could be suited to: that of Wanda Wilson, aka Lady Deadpool.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Liefeld was asked what he thought about the idea of Headey bringing Wanda to life.

"Bring it on baby, bring it on!" said Liefeld, who co-created the character of Lady Deadpool as a member of the Deadpool Corps with writer Victor Gischler.

"Bring it on. Lady Deadpool is fantastic. She's ridiculously popular as well. Also slightly underused I think."

Mind you, it doesn't sound as though fans can expect anything anytime soon, as we're still waiting on news for Deadpool 3, let alone anything beyond that.

The third film was confirmed towards the end of last year, with lead star Ryan Reynolds later saying that the team had started work on the movie over at Marvel Studios.

During an interview on Live With Kelly and Ryan, he said: "We're working on it right now with the whole team.

"We're over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It's kinda crazy. So yeah, we're working on it."

The following month, the Canadian actor said during a press conference in China that creators were taking a 'completely different direction' for number three.

According to Variety, he said: "[The producers and writers are] looking to go in a completely different direction."

He added: "Often, they reboot or change a character maybe like four movies too late."

However, as for why that's been delayed, Liefeld is pointing the finger at Marvel.

"I blame Marvel...blame Marvel that that hasn't happened yet," Liefeld continued.

"They are the reason it isn't happening. Whatever conundrum or it didn't fit into your master plan, just commission it. Okay, commission it. You know if Frank Frazetta was still around, you would say, 'Frank paint for me.'

"If Ryan isn't making Deadpool 3 right now, that's because Marvel hasn't allowed it to be yet, and that's all I'm saying."
