Talks of the sequel have been around for years, with rumours previously suggesting that Disney were considering a remake of the original.
However, we now know the film will take the form of a follow-up to the story, airing exclusively on Disney+.
The first film tells the tale of three resurrected witches who return to exact their revenge after Max, a young boy who moves to Salem with his family, lights a cursed candle of Black Flame.
It wasn't a box office hit upon its theatrical release, though over the years has become a cult classic and a firm favourite over Halloween season.
