Diversity's Britain's Got Talent Dance Becomes Second Most Complained About TV Moment Of Decade

Diversity's Black Lives Matter inspired dance on last weekend's Britain's Got Talent has become the second most complained about TV moment of the decade.

According to the Mirror, the dance segment has received 10,267 complaints to Ofcom - only Roxanne Pallett's 'punch gate' accusation against Ryan Thomas in the Celebrity Big Brother house has racked up more complaints, with 25,327.

Speaking earlier this week, an Ofcom spokesperson told the BBC: "We are assessing the complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate." The nature of the complaints has not been released.

In response to the backlash, Banjo took to social media to hit back at critics.

Sharing a black and white shot of Anthony Joshua, Lewis Hamilton and himself with a paragraph underneath that read: "Dear Joshua, Hamilton, Banjo and any other black public figures, we the Great British public will only support you if you entertain us and do not say anything about racism. Thank you for your understanding."

Banjo commented: "For the people sending this:

"1. You do not represent or speak for the Great British public.

"2. Silence was never and will never be an option.

"3. Change is inevitable... Get used to it." The post has garnered plenty of support, with almost 80,000 likes in two days.

The powerful dance performance involved a segment where Banjo lay on the floor while a dancer dressed as a police officer cuffed him and placed his knee on his neck, meanwhile, fellow dancers crowded around with their phones out, filming and taking snaps.

Following the show's broadcast, Banjo took to Twitter to thank his followers for their messages of support as well as adding that those who have sent hate 'highlight exactly what needs to change'.

Ashley's brother Jordan also spoke about the complaints on KISS FM alongside Diversity co-star Perri Kiely.

An emotional Jordan, said:"I can't speak for anyone else it's sad, it's sad, genuinely.

"I feel really anxious and worried saying something like Black Lives Matter when that's all we want man, love and positivity.

"No one is saying only black lives matter, as a son and as a dad, I look at Pel [Perri] and I just.. it's all positivity and love, let's keep it moving."
