Canadian broadcaster CBC says the edit was due to commercial time

Never mind impeachment, US President Donald Trump has really been hit where it hurts this Christmas after apparently being chopped from a version of Home Alone 2.

The POTUS famously made a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo in the Christmas classic movie from 1992 but Canadian broadcaster CBC cut him out. Check out his appearance below.

After people began to notice Trump's absence from the film on a Christmas Eve airing, CBC told ComicBook.com that the edit was made to make room for ads.

The broadcaster said: "As is often the case with features adapted for television, Home Alone 2 was edited to allow for commercial time within the format."

It's safe to say, people won't be buying the explanation as they had previously been suggesting the edit was due to a political agenda against the President.

One person wrote on Twitter: "Just watched Home Alone 2: Lost in New York recorded off @CBC and they edited out the @realDonaldTrump scene. God bless us EVERYONE! #ChristmasEve."

Another said: "You guys are the biggest bush league 'journalists' of all time. Editing out Trump's cameo in Home Alone 2. What kind of state-sponsored bullshit it that? #Defund."

Trump is of course currently facing an impeachment trial surrounding his dealings with the Ukraine and his election rival Joe Biden.

However, before he was the most powerful man in the world, Trump was a multi-millionaire businessman based in New York City.

So, when everyone's favourite burglar-assaulting kid, Kevin McCallister, found himself lost and alone in the Big Apple as the plot of Home Alone 2, why not include Trump in the film?

Before CBC cut him from its version, Donald appears for a few seconds when giving Kevin directions on his way through The Plaza Hotel, which the tycoon owned at the time in real life having bought it in 1988 for a reported $390 million.

Trump had recently been talking about the movie and it seems he's proud of his part. It's unclear whether he'll find being cut as painful as Harry and Marv found a drainpipe to the face.

He said, according to Deadline, when asked if it is his favourite Xmas film: "Well, I'm in Home Alone 2.

"A lot of people mention it every year, especially around Christmas. They say, especially young kids, they say, 'I just saw you on the movie'.

"They don't see me on television as they do in the movie. But it's been a good movie and I was a little younger, to put it mildly. And it was an honour to do it."

He also said: "And it turned out to be a very big hit, obviously. It's a big Christmas hit -- one of the biggest. So, it's an honour to be involved in something like that, you always like to see success."

Nothing sums up the spirit of Christmas like always liking to see success.
