Donald Trump Responds To Being Edited Out Of Home Alone 2 In Canada

Donald Trump has responded to having his cameo appearance in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York edited out of the film when it aired in Canada on Christmas Day.

In the movie - the 1992 sequel to the iconic Macaulay Culkin caper, which sees our young protagonist separated from his family yet again, this time in New York - Trump appears very briefly during a scene in a hotel.

As Kevin walks into The Plaza alone, he runs into a man played by Trump (who happened to own the hotel at the time) and asks him: "Excuse me, where's the lobby?"

Trump's character replies: "Down the hall and to the left."

The segment was cut from the film by Canadian broadcaster CBC, prompting many viewers to speculate that he had been omitted for political reasons.

However CBC has since defended the decision as a purely logistical one, claiming it had been done to allow for commercials.

A spokesperson for CBC told Comicbook.com: "As is often the case with features adapted for television, Home Alone 2 was edited to allow for commercial time within the format."

Tweeting out an article about what happened, the US President made a quip about Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and the disagreements on major policy issues, saying: "I guess Justin T doesn't much like my making him pay up on NATO or Trade!"

In a later tweet, he added: "The movie will never be the same! (Just kidding)."

Trump is clearly proud of his guest appearance in the film, having recently talked about his involvement during a video conference call to US troops overseas.

When asked if it is his favourite Christmas film, according to Deadline he said: "Well, I'm in Home Alone 2.

"A lot of people mention it every year, especially around Christmas. They say, especially young kids, they say, 'I just saw you on the movie'.

"They don't see me on television as they do in the movie. But it's been a good movie and I was a little younger, to put it mildly. And it was an honour to do it."

He also said: "And it turned out to be a very big hit, obviously. It's a big Christmas hit -- one of the biggest. So, it's an honour to be involved in something like that, you always like to see success."
