Eamonn Holmes said he was left 'hurt beyond belief' by the final edit of Celebrity Gogglebox.

After the show aired on Channel 4 last night (Friday), the 60-year-old presenter was criticised on social media for his seemingly 'insensitive' response to a story about a child who managed to resuscitate his dad after he had a heart attack.

The show then cut to Eamonn lightheartedly recounting the tale of how he heroically drove wife Ruth Langsford to hospital to give birth to their son Jack in 2002.

Following criticism on social media about the apparently inappropriate comparison, Eamonn shared a series of tweets in which he criticised the show for leaving out a segment where he spoke about his dad dying from a heart attack.

He said the death 'haunted' his family and the 'atrocious' edit warranted an apology:

The presenter went on to respond to tweets criticising him, replying to one such tweet: "Please read my posts. I'm then expecting an apology or an understanding from you ..... or are you not man enough?"

He also told one person to 'shut up' and replied to another: "You are another one who can F**k off .... don't lecture me on the process. I know the process much better than you I'm sure. For simplicity I don't need to be an anorak like you! Technically, you are right but you sound a right bore!"

Eamonn then signed off for the night, thanking those who had supported him and saying he needed to put his phone down.

A Gogglebox spokesperson told LADbible: "We have apologised to Eamonn over what happened in this week's episode. We understand and respect Eamonn's feelings on such a deeply personal story.

"We have taken the decision to edit the episode for future repeats and All 4. We look forward to working with Eamonn and Ruth for the rest of the series."
