Getting excited for the forthcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series? Here's something that might help raise your spirits as we wait for the Star Wars spin-off to land - Ewan McGregor has grown back the character's signature beard.

It was spotted when a photo of the 50-year-old actor was posted on Instagram by Randy Carlson.

The new series, which will also be called Obi-Wan Kenobi, sees McGregor sporting a similar face-fuzz to the one that covered his chin back in 2005's Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.

Fans of the original trilogy will also note that it's similar to Alec Guinness' beard, from his portrayals of the character in the series' original trilogy, between 1977 and 1983.

It looks like Ewan and Randy had got together to talk about their love of trucks - but obviously, any excuse for people to get all excited about the upcoming series.

It will be based on - you guessed it - Obi-Wan, and McGregor will be joined by Hayden Christensen who will be playing Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader once more.

This will mark the first time either actor has appeared in the movie franchise since 2005.

The return of these two actors has also raised questions on who else might be returning and one character has been filling up social media.

While Jar Jar Binks was one of the less popular characters from Episode I - The Phantom Menace, there are some diehard fans who have been hoping and praying he would come back to restore his good name.

Some people thought the Gungan military commander could be coming back for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, however those hopes have been dashed.

Actor Ahmed Best, who portrayed Jar Jar in the prequel films, has released a statement knocking back all those wishes.

He congratulated the whole cast when they were unveiled on Twitter and said he was looking forward to the programme coming to life.

A fan replied to him asking whether he's laying low until his name is added to the cast list, saying: "Yeah right, like you're not on it. I see what you're doing."

He said back: "Thanks for the love, but I will not be in this series. As much as I would've loved to be a part of it. But I'm ecstatic to see folks who I love dearly back together doing great things."

Rumours started circling back in January that a 'bearded Jar Jar' would come into the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

Fan site Making Star Wars wrote: "I'm told 'Ben' Kenobi crosses paths with his old friend from Naboo, Jar Jar Binks.

"Early work has been conducted for the CGI Gungan's return to Star Wars. Jar Jar has a beard to reflect where he's been and what his life has been like since they were all deceived by a great lie that ushered in the first Galactic Empire...

"I'm told there is a sequence where the bearded Jar Jar Binks and Obi-Wan talk about the past."

Looks like this isn't true, sadly.
