Fans Of Netflix's The Stranger Need To Check Out Safe

Fans Of Netflix's The Stranger Need To Check Out Safe

Netflix's newest thriller The Stranger has gripped viewers since it landed last month.

But if you are like many who have already binged the entire season, then you are in luck, because the writer who created the series, Harlan Coben, has another one.

Safe was a massive hit at the time of its release but it may have passed you by.

The series, based on a book, stars Dexter actor Michael C Hall as father Tom who tries to look after his two daughters following his wife's death from cancer two years earlier. But then tragedy strikes when one child goes missing after a house party and he starts looking for her.

But it's when the widower starts prying into his secretive neighbourhood - that's where the true mystery lies.

At the time, those who managed to catch it on the streaming site were on the edge of their seat.

And similarly to The Stranger viewers took the opportunity to binge it all in one sitting.

Praising the show, one person wrote on Twitter: "Safe on Netflix is without a doubt my favourite TV show this year. Binged it all today and my mind is blown."

While another added: "Started watching "Safe" on Netflix and i have never had so many the theories in my life!"

While it's always a risk for an actor to take on a role with an accent that is not theirs (Hall played a British bloke) - he did incredibly well.

Netflix's New Crime Thriller The Stranger Is Now Available To Stream

The American actor told The Hollywood Reporter: "I was interested in the challenge of playing an Englishman and the opportunity to play a relatively regular guy.

"I was interested in the fact that there was a definitive end in sight. We were going to do eight episodes, and that would be that. So it wasn't an open-ended commitment to another TV show in that way.

"But ultimately, it was really just about the quality of the script. The fact that there were so many relationships going on. It felt like it was maybe three things at once.

"It felt like a character study, and it felt like a family drama, and it felt like a thriller."

While if you've seen neither of them, you're in for a treat.

The Stranger follows protagonist Adam Price on a life-changing journey during which he discovers his life up until that point hasn't been what it seemed.

Adam, a father of two, discovers his wife Corinne has been hiding a huge secret from him that chucks everything he knows about her into doubt.

He's approached by a mystery woman in a bar - always the best place to encounter a mystery person of some sort - who calls herself 'The Stranger'.

She offers him some information that sends him on a deep dive into his wife's secret double life and headlong into a conspiracy that could break apart his entire family.
