Get out the tissues and prepare to cry because you will finally be able binge on the sixth and final season of Schitt's Creek on Netflix Australia from today.

We will have to bid farewell to Johnny, Moira, David, Alexa and everyone else who made their humble town so memorable.

The show is all about the Rose family, who have to pack up their lives and leave their glamorous belongings behind after video store magnate Johnny (Eugene Levy) is defrauded by his business manager.

A synopsis explains: "They are forced to rebuild their lives with their sole remaining asset: a small town named Schitt's Creek, which they had bought for their son as a joke birthday gift back in 1991.

"The Roses relocate to Schitt's Creek, moving into two adjacent rooms in a run-down motel. As the family adjusts to their new lives, their well-to-do attitudes come into conflict with the more provincial residents of Schitt's Creek, including mayor Roland Schitt (Chris Elliott), his wife Jocelyn (Jenn Robertson), and the motel's manager, Stevie Budd (Emily Hampshire)."

The easy-watching comedy has won and been nominated for a ton of awards.

Daniel Levy, who plays Johnny's son in the show (and is Eugene Levy's actual son in real life) has taken the cake for most number of nominations, with 24.

Eugene, Catherine O'Hara (who plays Moira Rose) and Emily Hampshire have a combined 46 nominations.

When asked how he came up with the idea for the show, Daniel told Out.com: "I had been watching some reality TV at the time and was concentrating on what would happen if one of these wealthy families would lose everything.

"Would the Kardashians still be the Kardashians without their money?"

Netflix Australia made the announcement that the final season would be arriving in mid-May in the most Moira of fashions.

Posting on Twitter, the streaming service referenced one of the Rose matriarch's most famous scenes.

"In the lea of a picturesque ridge lies a small, unpretentious series, one that pampers its audience like its own bébés," it said.

"Hi! I'm Netflix, and if you like @SchittsCreek as much as I do, then you'll appreciate that the final season will premiere May 14 in Australia and New Zealand."

Schitt's Creek will be available to stream on Netflix Australia and New Zealand from today (May 14).
