Friends Creator Reassures Fans About Matthew Perry's Health Following Reunion Show

The director of Friends has reassured fans about Matthew Perry's health, following concerns after the sitcom's reunion special aired this week.

Some viewers spoke about Perry's appearance on social media, saying his voice appeared to be slurred.

It was later reported by various outlets that the 51-year-old had undergone dental surgery just hours before recording Friends: The Reunion back in April, with a source telling The Sun that he had to have 'an emergency tooth procedure that day'.

While this has not been confirmed by the star's reps, Friends co-creator and director Kevin Bright has since reassured fans that Perry seems to be 'OK'.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Bright was asked about whether or not he'd spoken to Perry about his health.

Bright replied: "I talked to him. It was great seeing him again.

"And what people say is what people say. I don't have any[thing] to say about that, except it was great to see him. And I think he's very funny on the show.

"But yes, I think he's OK. He seems stronger and better since the last time I saw him, and excited about going forward."

During the special programme, the cast looked back on their time working on the iconic show, sharing various revelations to fans.

Perry admitted that he often struggled when delivering his lines in the studio, telling his former co-stars: "At least to me, I felt like I was going to die if they didn't laugh."

He continued: "It's not healthy for sure but I would sometimes say a line and they wouldn't laugh and I would sweat and just go into convulsions if I didn't get the laugh I was supposed to get. I would freak out."

His castmates were clearly shocked by his admission, with Lisa Kudrow saying to him: "You didn't tell us that.

"I don't remember you ever saying that."

Perry replied: "Oh yeah, I felt like that every single night."

Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer, meanwhile, shared their own anecdote from their Friends days, saying they had 'crushes' on each other while filming the show.

Interviewing the cast, special guest James Corden asked: "Will you allow me to ask what I would consider a cheeky question? It's hard not to recognise that you're all young, hot, good-looking successful actors.

"It's inconceivable to me that there weren't perhaps off screen romances."

Aniston slyly responded: "Well... I mean... David... the first season."

Replying to his co-star, Schwimmer said: "The first season... we... I had a major crush on Jen."

Aniston then confirmed: "It was reciprocated."

Friends: The Reunion is now available to watch on Sky and NOW TV.
