Lockdown has changed many things, but perhaps no one could've predicted what it would mean for Gillian Anderson.

In an Instagram Live on Monday (12 July), the X-Files actor vowed never to wear a bra again. Watch her explain why here:

The 52-year-old went on to joke that she doesn't care if her breasts 'reach her belly button'.

Anderson made the hilarious remark while answering questions from her 1.8 million followers.

When one fan asked what her go-to outfit was during lockdown, she replied: "It's probably the same one as my out of lockdown outfit.

"I mean, I've gotten so lazy and I don't wear a bra any more. I can't wear a bra. I can't, no, I can't. I'm sorry.

"I don't care if my breasts reach my belly button, I'm not wearing a bra any more. It's just too f***ing uncomfortable.

"So yeah, comfortable black track pants and a matching hoodie. I'd wear that every day if I could."

Breasts or not, I think we can all relate to that last sentence.

Plenty of people agreed, including one who commented: "If two time Golden Globe and Emmy winning actress Gillian Anderson says no more bras who are we to disagree?"

Another wrote: "I never wear a bra and I get a lot of distasteful comments about it, so knowing Gillian Anderson doesn't wear a bra anymore is information most pleasing to me!"

At least we know Anderson's living her best life and inspiring others to do the same.

It comes just a few months after the star accepted the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series at the Golden Globes for her performance as Margaret Thatcher in The Crown.

Distracting viewers far and wide, Anderson accepted the award virtually (thanks Covid) and was sporting an American accent.

This baffled many people watching as most of her recent work has been portraying British characters and therefore she has just expertly conned people into believing she is from the UK.

So it might come as a surprise to you that she is actually originally from Chicago, Illinois, but was raised in Puerto Rico and London.

Viewers flocked to social media to air their confusion at the time, with one writing: "Gillian Anderson has her American accent on today, she's feeling flirty."

Another added: "I just found out that Gillian Anderson is actually American and I love her English accent so much I'm actually disappointed."

The win is Anderson's second after she scooped an award back in 1997 for playing Agent Dana Scully on the seminal sci-fi series The X-Files.
